According to the current status of college English teaching and learning, this thesis takes the perspective of learners’learning styles into consideration to study the the general characteristics of learning styles of the non-English majors in Tianjin Polytechnic University, the discipline differences and gender differences in learning styles, and the correlation between non-English major students’learning styles and their listening Achievements. Through the questionnaire survey on about 150 college students in TJPU, collection of English listening achievements, and the data analysis, the main findings are achieved as follows:1) Non-English majors in TJPU preferred visual, extroverted, intuitive, global and low ambiguity-tolerance learning styles.2) Arts students show greater preference for auditory learning style than science students, while science students have a higher degree of TOA than art students.3) Males are inclined to kinesthetic learning styles while females are inclined to visual learning styles. Male students in TJPU prefer to do the tasks with a global learning style than female students, but male students are a little more tolerant of ambiguity than female students in English learning.4) There are four learning styles that statistically have significant correlation with English listening achievements:auditory style, extroverted, impulsive style, and high tolerance of ambiguity. These four learning styles all have positive and significant correlations with English listening proficiency.
