A Study Of Anti - Bourgeois Ideological Movement In Colleges And Universities In 1952

In 1951, with the “Three-against movement” carrying out in the end of December, the college teacher’s ideological movement is also merged into this movement which started on September in 1951. On that basis, the anti-bourgeois ideology movement was also proceeding, and this movement not only repudiated the teachers’ bourgeois ideology, but also required the college students to accept the ideological education in the process in which they helped the teachers to promote their ideas. The anti-bourgeois ideology movement in Beijing Railway college carried out that was based on both the “Three-against movement” and its own practice.The anti-bourgeois ideology movement in Peking Railway college is a gradual process from the simple to the complex. It is consisted of three stages, that is “the beginning of the movement”( from the January to the late April in 1952), “ the deep proceeding”(from the May until to the July in 1952), “ready for the victory”(from the late June to the August). It criticized the bourgeois ideology that including the inspiration of worship of the United States against the Soviet Union, the the concept that only emphasized the technology while ignored the politics, the concept that sought nothing but profits and the pessimistic philosophy. But it was wrong that the the Save examination committee in this college evaluated, they overstate the fact.In this movement, the Communist Party branch set up the Save examination committee as directing institution to administrate this movement. This committee disseminated this movement through collective learning organization, setting up Propaganda Department, publishing Three- Antis express and other means to improve teachers and students’ consciousness. In addition, they fully aroused the masses and adopted criticism and self-criticism as the weapon to force the teachers to change their ideas, at the same time, asked the students for education in this process.The Save examination committee lunched the students to organizing the “Scrubbing team” and other patterns to impeach, expose, crisis the bourgeois ideology of teachers.In the movement, the teachers was required to adopted the means of criticism and self-criticism to dig the previous themselves many times——and completely denied previous selves. Moreover, the teachers was required to swear to breaking with the previous selves and reshaping themselves, until they were were approved by the public.The students also need to make a self-reflection, and make a crisis ofthemselves bourgeois ideology.After the anti-bourgeois ideology movement, the teachers and students in Beijing Railway college improved their degree of theory and ideological consciousness. It cleaned up the bourgeois ideology of students and teachers in some degree to some extent, let them establish the concept of class. The teachers and students initially set up the revolution philosophy and the idea to serve the people. It enhanced the public acception of “Communist Party of China”, “New Rigime” and it strengthen the Marxism-Leninism’s acception from three concepts of orgnization, politics, ideology.Consequently, it promoted the reform of education and the regulation of college department at the beginning of the republic. But the violence and simple in that political movement which is like a violent storm also caused some poor influence, it hurt the feelings and dignity of intellectual; and it also damaged the intellectual’s self-contained mind and personnality.
