Lin Chong’s Night Escape is a large dulcimer solo which was created by Zuhua Xiang who is a famous dulcimer performer, composer and educator in 1984 and is a kind of instrumental music which possesses titles and abstract content and uses dramatic plots as its background. This paper researches the work’s production process, performing process and reception process by utilizing the Reception Aesthetics Theory and describes the brand new conception pattern of national music creation. It also attaches importance to using the performer as the bond and utilizing the audience-centered idea to excavate performing methods which are different from those of traditional folk music and combines my own performing experiences to analyze the music. This paper therefore infers the feasibility of using Reception Aesthetics Theory to create and perform national music works and explores how to better apply the audience-centered theory to guide the creation and performance of national music works from a brand new perspective.
