A Study On Pragmatic Equivalence In Business Interpretation

Pragmatic equivalent interpretation theory is an interpretation theory guided by pragmatics, and it is a combination of interpretation and pragmatics. The pragmatic equivalence belongs to functional equivalence, and it plays an important role in pragmatic equivalent interpretation, and it is the key to the success of cross-cultural communication. However, limited by language and culture, it is not easy to achieve pragmatic equivalence in business interpretation, thus affecting business communication. Pragmatic equivalent problems include pragmalinguistic equivalent problem and socio-pragmatic equivalent problem. Pragmalinguistic equivalent problem is about language structure and expression difference; Socio-pragmatic equivalent problem is about culture difference and environment difference. Pragmalinguistic equivalent problem belongs to linguistic level, including the problems of redundancy, deficiency and vagueness; Socio-pragmatic equivalent problem belongs to cultural level, including the problems of misinterpretation of cultural-loaded words and cross-cultural conflicts. Through analysis, we can find that negative transfer of native language and the differences between Chinese and western cultures, values, thinking modes and expressions are the main courses of pragmatic equivalent problems in business interpretation. Based on the research of pragmatic equivalent problems, the author puts forward with the interpretation method of addition and omission to solve pragmalinguistic equivalent problems, and the interpretation method of domestication and foreignization to solve socio-pragmatic equivalent problems.
