The Gospel In Town

In recent years, with the increase in number of Christians in China, more attention has been given to Christianity by relevant subjects. In the research on the Christianity, more attention has been given to the Christians in rural areas or urban areas while less has been given to Christians in counties. This paper, using the methods in anthropology, offers a survey on the life of Christians in County D.Correspondingly, the survey and analysis on the religious life of those Christians in this paper can be divided into three parts. In the first part, the individual practice of Christians such as the witnessing, praying, obeying the moral ethics and avoiding taboos gets surveyed. In this way, the question that how could the Christians construct their identities through daily activities gets observed. In the second part, the group practice of Christians such as worshipping, Bible studying, Sunday school, social service of church and the cyberspace gets surveyed. In this way, the questions that how could a common belief get established through the interaction and what social function does the community have get answered. In the third part, the localization strategy held by Christianity gets observed through the analysis on the Christmas Day and the wedding of local Christians. In the discussion of the last part, several opinions are put forward, such as, the Christianity under urbanization has the function to promote moral constrains and social integration. Also, the development and promotion methods displayed in the process of localization of Christianity are concluded.
