On Su Shi 's Artistic Life

In the cultural history of ancient China, cultural giants are like the shining stars,among whom Su Shi living in the middle of the northern Song Dynasty is the special one. He is an outstanding politician, a thinker as well as an astronomer. As a optimistic and a versatile person,his life is colorful and graceful. In much of his lifetime, he was suffering from pain, however, this didn`t make his life gloomy, instead, he preferred to deepen his love and thinking for the life rather than complaining and suffering from pain turning out the fact that there’s happiness in hardship and there’s poetry in the ordinary life. He also made great artistic achievement, in his works of literature and art we can see his whole life’s journey. Therefore, the life of Su Shi was taken as the research object, collocating with “Artistic life”, which is one of China’s modern aesthetic theories to study artistic life of Su Shi.The thesis studies the historical background at the beginning, including the political, economic and cultural conditions. Aesthetic trend in Song Dynasty and teachers’ guidance to Su Shi are important for his cultivation and development. In Northern Song Dynasty, the political environment was no longer strict and the economy developed rapidly. Thanks to the development of society and growth of population, the aesthetic trend is advocating, feminine insipidity and philosophic poem cultural are inspiring. His father, his teacher Ou Yangxiu and his confidant Tao Yuanming exerted a great significant influence on him. Through the works left by Su Shi, the specific appearance of his artistic life is present clearly. The analysis of Su Shi’s unique "expectation" outlook on the life followed by is the intrinsic reason of the realization of his artistic life. In turn, the final crystallization of his artistic achievement made Su Shi significant contributions in the field of poetry with "elegant" as his aesthetic ideal, presenting the artistic style from "roughness" to "humbleness".
