A Study On The Issue Of "Two Types Of Guaizhen" In The Unearthed Literature

Since the end of the twentieth century, the discovery of excavated Yi-ology texts has broaden the vision of the Yi-ology study, which cause attention and discussion about the origin and nature of Gua Body in the academic circles. Especially, the difference between the Gua Body in the excavated Yi-ology texts and the Gua Body in Zhouyi is obvious. The Gua Body not only has the feature of the ancient figures but also has the feature of Yin-Yang symbols, so many experts and scholars develop hot discussion about the feature of the Gua Body.The paper analyzes and summaries the viewpoints of many experts and scholars in this scene. These theories are divided into three categories: "Digital Gua Body Word", "Symbol Gua Body Word", "Digital-Symbol Gua Body Word". At first, the paper affirms the advantages of many experts’ viewpoints. Then it analyzes the disadvantages of the three categories by the excavated Yi-ology texts. The "Digital Gua Body Word" recognizes the digital nature of Gua Body on the oracle bones, bronze ware, pottery and the Divinatory Chu Bamboo Slips. But it ignores the Yin-Yang nature of Gua Body on the Chu Bamboo Slips in Shanghai Museum,Fuyang Bamboo Slips and so on. The "Symbol Gua Body Word" is too absolute, which completely denies the existence of Digital Gua, and cuts off the relationship between Yi-ology and divinatory numbers, ignore the divinatory nature of the Yi-ology literature have. The "Digital-Symbol Gua Body Word" recognizes the existence of Digital Gua and Yin-Yang Symbols Gua. But it makes a logical error. It said the relationship between them is evolution and simplification, which ignores their independence.Consequently, the writer sorts out and annotates 597 Gua Bodies in 56 excavated Yi-ology texts by double evidence act and lists statistics act. During this process, he discovers the "two-line" nature of Gua Body: Concrete Divinatory Digital Gua Body and Common Textual Symbolic Gua Body. The digital nature of Gua Body has been proved by analyzing 393 Gua Bodies which base on oracle bones, bronze ware, pottery and the Xincai Divinatory Bamboo Slips, the Tianxingguan Divinatory Bamboo Slips, the Baoshan Divinatory Bamboo Slips, the Shifa in Tsinghua Bamboo Slips. These Gua bodies are three hexagrams Gua and six hexagrams Gua that are made up of concrete seven numbers:(1),(4),(5),(6),(7),(8),(9),which are the records of the results of divination and belong to the Concrete Divinatory Digital Gua Body. Meanwhile, the Yin-Yang nature of Gua Body has been proved by analyzing 204 Gua Bodies which base on the Biegua and Shifa in Tsinghua Bamboo Slips, the Wangjiatai Qin Bamboo Slips of Guicang, the Chu Bamboo Slips Zhouyi in Shanghai Museum, the Changsha Mawangdui Silk Book Zhouyi, the Fuyang Shuanggudui Bamboo Slips of Zhouyi. These Guabodies are three hexagrams Gua and six hexagrams Gua that are made up of two symbols of Yin-Yang: " " and " " or " " and " ", whose written form are much more normative and systematic, and which belong to the Common Textual Symbolic Gua Body.In short, "Two-Line Gua Body Word" specifically summarizes the feature of Gua Body in the excavated Yi-ology texts, amending the mistakes of the "Digital Gua Body Word" and the "Symbol Gua Body Word". It also avoids the logic errors of the "Digital-Symbol Gua Body Word", accurately holding the concrete digital and Yin-Yang symbolic feature of Gua Body,which contributes to understand and analysis the excavated Yi-ology texts.
