The Application Of Interpretative Theory In The Alternative Interpretation Of English And Chinese

Talk show, a program characterized by diversified contents, strong interest, large audiences and profound background knowledge always with lots of hot social current events involved, is beneficial for understanding American unique society, economy,history, culture and sense of humor. Conversely, the massive information contained in the talk show brings huge difficulties to English-Chinese consecutive interpreting.Under the guidance of interpretive theory, some typical sentences from talk shows are analyzed. Three major influencing factors namely the speed of hosts, the difficulties in listening and information receiving caused by tone, the deficiency in background knowledge, the inaccuracy of feeling expression in interpreting are summarized in this paper. To solve these issues above, integration of key points, feeling expression, semantic interpretation and other relative translation skills guided by the interpretive theory are applied to convey feelings and ideas to the most degree in consecutive interpreting and better achieve the interpreting task of talk show.
