Struggles in an Ancient City a typical representative of Chinese modern national opera which makes up the deficiency of. As the main part of the opera, the aria, I cannot practice filial piety to my mother, which is sung by actor Yang Xiaodong vividly describes his heart to China revolution as well as his deep love and guilt feeling to his mother because he devoted himself to the revolution and sacrifice the time of looking after his mother.Three parts has been divided from this part and analyzed respectively. The first part gives an overview of the arias and focuses on the discussion of the art characters. The second part focuses on the main idea and the characterization. Last but not the least, the art of singing and the skills handling of this aria has been discussed based on music noumenon which is the most essential part of this essay. By analyzing and researching important points of this aria, I am aiming to strengthening my singing skills and making my understanding more profound of this aria.
