A Study On The History Of Batik Art In Malaysia

When we talk about Batik(Wax Resistance) in Asia,Yunan state,China and Indonesia,Jawa also Malaysia Batik are most renown in the World. Batik is an Old craft more than 2000 years,although the true origin has never been determined.Archaeological findings prove that Batik was appear in many countries at Egypt,China,India,Japan,Africa,Indonesia. But trough the motif design of the Indonesia Batik,I found out that they are many motif design of Indonesia Batik was affected by Chinese Culture. Also after study the history of China,I was so surprise that they are something connection within some of the tribe of Yunnan,China and Malay through their tribal customs,some similar language etc. Even from the 《The Story of Malaya 》1941 by W.S Morgan,He was confirmed and mentioned that “The Malays belong to the Mongolian race,which has straight,black hair and narrow eyes. Their first home was far away in the mountains of Yunnan,which look down on the flat plaints through which flow the Menam,the Mekong...rivers.” What is the connection within the Malay Batik and Yunnan,China batik is one of my research item. Malaysia Batik origin from Indonesia, Jawa. Due to Malaya was reigned over by many countries for thousand years ago. The Culture and Arts was influenced by Many countries like Buddhism,Hinduism,Islamism,Indonesia Malay Culture,and Chinese Culture,also Malaya were under colonial rules by Portugal,Holland and British for more than four hundred years,The Western arts also influenced very much.Malaya have no fine Arts can represent as the images of Malaya,until Batik Painting which created by Dato’ Chuah Tien Teng on 1956 and after Malaya was Independent on 1957. Art history of Malaysia has been changed to New Image.
