A Study On The Style Features And Performance Techniques Of The New School Bamboo Flute

With time passing by, the performance of bamboo flutes has developed into many different genres according to geographical differences, which possess their own characteristics and styles of playing techniques. In this paper, new school of bamboo flutes performance is presented by introducing the distinction between new school skills and the south and north school skills. Playing techniques of new school performance are recommended through the breath, finger skills, portamento, etc. The impact of new school on the development of bamboo flutes is presented through the introduction of three performers, Liu Sen, Jian Guangyi, and Li Zhen. This paper is discussed to help flute players learn more about bamboo flutes playing.
