Research On Documentary Of Chinese Elderly Since 1990

From 1990s, Chinese documentary directors have created a series of multi-theme and multi-angle elderly subjects documentaries that recorded the elderly.The old-themed documentary refers to the documentary that focuses on the elderly groups,recording their living conditions and their mentality.In the background of the aging society,this paper makes a research on the creation of the old-themed documentary.The paper is divided into four major parts.Firstly,it provides a definition of the old-themed documentary,and cards the status of the creation of Chinese old-themed documentary.The old image is missing originally, but it began to be concerned in 1990s, and then "ran to theaters" since 2010.Both in quantity and subject,the old-themed documentary has made great development. The second chapter analyzes the themes of old-themed documentary and the character set of the elderly.It is concluded that the "old memory", "how to raise the elderly ", and "the thought of life" are the three themes of the old-themed documentary.These documentaries mainly present the positive and negative characters of the elderly, recording two aspects of the elderly,such as "panic of aging" and "beautifully aging".Then,the third chapter analyzes the narrative pattern and narrative perspective of the old-themed documentary through the angle of narrative, to explore the suitable narrative methods for different old-themed documentaries.The last chapter is about the artistic,literature and social value of the old-themed documentary. At last, the epilogue of this paper is to point out the current problems of Chinese old-themed documentary, and show the new development and future trend.Hope this paper can do the guttering and cause more documentary filmmakers and academic researchers to focus on the elderly images of aging society.
