Yu Shu Tang Shi Hua(《娱书堂诗话》)is written in the late period of Southern Song Dynasty. We can realize the author’s poetic ideas through the content of this book, which had an open-ended discussion on the comments of poems at that time.There are precious contents in Yu Shu Tang Shi Hua which provided many extremely reference materials to the research of the poetry’s developmen situation of song dynasty.We can also analysis cultural result of Song dynasty’s imperial clan from this book because of its uniqueness.This dissertation is divided into three main chapters of following major elements:The first chapter of this paper is about the author’s family background and biographies.Zhao Yuyan is one of the imperial clan members, borning in Xinchang. Jiangxi Province. His hierarchical position was not stand out until his retirement. We expounds our own opinions of the issue according to the analysis and exploration of a variety of data:Zhao Yuyan’s father is not Zhao Xijin(赵希晋)who is record by The History of Song Dynasty(《宋史》),and we can get a clear understanding of his life story from Yu Shu Tang Shi Hua. As evidence, there are some of his stories about the material in the local history and other related historical data.The second chapter describes the compilation process, circulation situation and the main contents. This book is written between ad 1226 to 1233, whose original name was Zhao Wei Bo Shi Yu Hua (《赵威伯诗余话》)We don’t know the reason why it changed its name, but we know it doesn’t wide dissemination. Now we can see two versions of the system, one was collected by Mao Jin, who was a famous book-collector and great publisher between the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, the other one was collected by Qian Zeng who was a famous bibliography and scholar of our country in the beginning of Qing Dynasty. The previous version has been handed down to the present, and a copy has reflected in a series of books which called Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature (《四库全书》).The rest of one now only kept the first two volumes which was transcribed into several copies. After the collation, one was collected into a series of books, the other one was collected by Ding Bing. Due to the lack of accurate and reliable information, we can not accurately understand the relationship between the two versions of the system, but it is certain that they must have some contact.The third chapter is about the theory of the book. Not only Confucian poetics(�'家诗 教),but also the poetry style that was popular in the late of Tang Dynasty influenced the basic ideas of the book. This book has been extracted from many patriotic literati’s poems in the Southern Song Dynasty, it shows that the author has a great appreciation of the patriotic spirit in their poems. Yu Shu Tang Shi Hua kept an extensive file on the poems of his contemporaries, especially on the poetic theory from Huang Tingjian and Yang Wanli. It is not only sort out the poems of Song dynasty, but also help to understand the cultural result of song dynasty’s imperial clan.
