The literature territory of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms is the topic of this essay. Based on the distribution of literati’s and literary families’native places, this paper describes the static appearance. Considering the literati’s living-working area, this paper studies the two periods of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms to show the dynamic evolution of the literature territory in this period. Combining the dynamic change and static state, we can see the change of literature territory of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms in both space and time. The paper in consists of two parts.The first part based on the literati’s native place. Considering the distribution of literati in this period, we can see the territory expanded outside while unbalance in south and north. The paper also studies the distribution of literary families. Different from the tripartite layout in the central Shanxi plain, regions south of the Yangtze River in Tang dynasty, it changed as the east of Jiangnan Dao, Central Plains and west of Jinagnan Dao. Exploring the change of literati’native places in Tang and Song dynasties, we can see the south area have more literati than the north.The second part studies the literati’migration, we can see the change of literature center in early and later period. In early period, literati move out from capital, in migration or seclusion. Chengdu of Former Shu, Fuzhou-Quanzhou, Lu mountain-Xi mountain-Yang mountain, Jiuhua mountain become literature center. Literati in later period focused on being an official. They move into capital. Former Chengdu, Nanjing in Southern Tang Dynasty, Changsha in Chu become literature center. In the same period, literati gathered in Lu mountain, form a vice-center opposed to Jinling. Heng mountain gathering, form a vice-center opposed to Changsha. We can see the dynamic evolution from capital center to multicenter, and finally form three primary centers and two vice centers.
