A Textual Research On Zeng Bi - Guang 's Life And His Works

Zeng Biguang was born in Hongya county of Meishan city,at present,Sichuan Province. In 1850 A.D., he successfully became a candidate,called “Jinshi”,in the highest imperial examination,then he rose to the bachelor of Hanlin Academy. He occupied the district magistrate of Zhenyuan in 1859, shouldered the provincial governor of Guizhou Province in 1867. Honored posthumous title "Wen Cheng" after he died of an illness in 1875. From Xianfeng to Tongzhi, the Qing government was beset with troubles internally and externally.There were wars and rebellions everywhere in Guizhou.Efforts of the former governors and supports from Sichuan, Hunan,Hubei helped him to suppress revolts eventually.Systematically academic research about ZengBiguang has not appeared yet. This academic dissertation includes seven parts:Chapter One:Introduction.Chapter Two:Investigate ZengBiguang’s birthday and time of death.Chapter Three:Chronicle of ZengBiguang’s life.Chapter Four:Collection and notes of his scattered writings.Chapter Five:Investigation about ZengBiguang and Assessment report.Appendix:ZengBiguang’s memorials in National Palace Museum of Taipei.Historical materials of Guizhou Province has been seriously damaged, this paper not only observe ZengBiguang’s life,but offer some methods about similar study too.
