As an outstanding writer of the Qing Dynasty, Yuan Mei also wrote many literature articles related about the imperial examination. Yuan Mei was smoothly in imperial examination. But in three years later, Yuan Mei had studied over in the academician courtyard, the scattered pavilion test, which would decide the fate of the official career to Yuan Mei, he took an examination of the worst. As a result, Yuan Mei was put outside the county as a magistrate. For having experienced a lot of large or small imperial examinations, Yuan Mei was quite familiar with the shortcomings of the imperial examination system and the injustice of choosing officers system. Before resided in the garden,Yuan Mei filled full of satire in his imperial literature to those who only projected the form of the imperial articles,writing imperial articles need to adhere the strictly format, and imperial essays writing had adverse effects to the literary creation, and so on. Along with the gender, the comfortable life gave Yuan Mei more thinking space,and more time to talk to his friends about the problems of the imperial examination system.Yuan Mei still think that the imperial examination system would be the best talents in the system, and encouraged the reader must get the fame by the imperial examinations,then he could abandon the imperial essays and monograph the literature creation. Throughout his life, Yuan Mei hadn’t point out the imperial examinations existing problems and contradictions in the imperial examinations system itself.
