A Study Of The Aesthetic Orientation Of Literati Painting In Yuan Dynasty And Its Painting

Due to the special social environment and era background in the Yuan Dynasty, literati paintings became the painting mainstream at that time. Literati took painting as the tool to express their inner natural grace. Their paintings pursued the imagery style which emphasized poetic analogy and association. Also the identity style and aesthetic taste of painting changed gradually.Combined with the literati painters and their works in the Yuan Dynasty, this paper analyses the aesthetic inclinations and painting thoughts of literati paintings in that dynasty. Specifically, the difference in aesthetic inclinations between literati paintings in the Yuan Dynasty and the paintings in previous dynasty is analyzed and the research about the reasons why these new aesthetic inclinations came into being is made. Meanwhile, this paper concludes painting thoughts in literati paintings in the Yuan Dynasty and makes comments on its thought value and its positive impact.During the two years since I began my postgraduate study, I have been interested in the literati natural grace and imagery of literati paintings in the Yuan Dynasty. I often consult and search related books and materials to help my study and I published a paper before. Therefore, I hope to make a systematic theoretic research and conclusion of literati paintings in the Yuan Dynasty combining with my thoughts in creating Chinese paintings.
