“Chicken Soup for the soul" is a multi meaning word. Firstly, it is a book’s name. It’s written by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. This book consisted of inspirational true stories about ordinary people’s. The book became a major best-seller and something of a social phenomenon. later referring to beneficial to mental or psychological warmth essay. Secondly, it refers to the words which are full of positive energy, wisdom and warmth. This paper discusses the "Chicken Soup for the soul" is not the curt inspirational quotes, but the essay full of warmth and philosophy.The embodied cognition approach in cognitive psychology is featured as the emphasis it places on the role the body plays in an organism’s cognitive processes. Its central meanings is that cognitive processes or states might be extended into the environment in which the cognition takes place. Conceptual Metaphor Theory assumes that the sensorimotor information should be an integral part for representing abstract concepts and the sensorimotor experiences also can be activated as the way of abstract conceptual processing. Thermal metaphor is a kind of conceptual metaphor, which refers to the metaphorical mapping between the physical temperature experience and the interpersonal emotion.From the embodied cognition and conceptual metaphor, this paper discusses the influence of "chicken soup for the soul" as a warm material on temperature perception, interpersonal evaluation and self evaluation. Study 1 showed that reading the "chicken soup for the soul" will allow the participants to produce a warm perceptual experience. Study 2 indicated that "metaphor congruency effect" existed in reading "chicken soup for the soul", warm feeling makes the evaluation of the experimental staff more warm and active. Study 3 showed that there has no difference between reading "chicken soup for the soul" judge themselves to the former test. Throughout the studies showed that read "Chicken Soup for the soul" can be used to understand the thermal metaphor, let participants evaluated others toward the direction consistent with the thermal metaphor. It is proved that the understanding of concrete concepts is based on sensory-motor process, in accordance with Concept Metaphor Theory.
