| Modern Chinese,in a broad sense, includes not only modern standard Chinese, but also various Chinese dialects. There are three relations between Chinese dialects(hereinafter referred to as dialects)and Mandarin: symbiosis, complementation, elegancevulgarity.Although Chinese dialects and Mandarin have different legal status, dialects carrying the natural and cultural background and historical accumulation of different places have important academic and social value. However, due to many reasons such as economic development, population mobility and the popularization of Mandarin, some dialects are gradually losing their vitality or even dying.Xiaogan dialect,as one of the representative dialects of Huangxiao cluster in Jianghuai Mandarin, has rarely been studied directly. In addition, previous studies on Xiaogan dialect and the Huangxiao cluster dialect of Jianghuai Mandarin to which Xiaogan dialect belong mainly focus on the phonetic level and grammatical level, but often ignore the thinking pattern and cognitive mechanism of the speech community. From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this study fully considers embodied experience, embodied cognition, encyclopedic knowledge, regional culture and other relevant factors to explore the formation and classification of conceptual metaphor in Xiaogan dialect, elaborating the metaphorical thinking pattern and its roots in the dialect.By examining the authentic corpus of Xiaogan dialect collected by the writer, this thesis describes and analyzes the utterance expressions of the dialect speakers, and explores the relevant conceptual structure and cognitive mechanism in their mind,so as to apply the western cognitive linguistics theory to the indigenous research on Chinese dialects. |
