In recent decades, social mobility increased as a result of economic globalization. A considerable part of the people in the flow would choose to stay in the city with more resources to seek better opportunities for their development. They are knowledge talented person who have a college degree or professional experiences such as architects, accountants, financial experts, engineers, technicians, researchers, scientists, teachers, medical professionals and network information technology specialists, etc. They all have the settlement intention and enter the receiving country with a temporary work visa or obtain legal residency by the way of talents introduction regardless of nationality acquisition. However, they are faced with a variety of adjustment problems after their immigration as the original cultural differences. This paper analysis social adaptation among the international skilled immigrants based on the foreign literatures and get results for improving our domestic urban white-collar newcomers in their social adaptation.In the study we have found there are some general characteristics in social adaptation of the international skilled immigrant, such as, industry standards and cultural differences will lead to social maladjustment, and they all have marginal experience and tend to use different strategies different circumstances, as well as the social adaptation of the second-generation cut both ways. We have also found that skilled immigrants’ social adaption is heavily influenced by1) the national policy, such as government restrictions on skilled immigrants and denigration to foreign education will lead to discriminatory income disparities,2) social factors, such as a new social network will provide support information to help the skilled immigrants to alleviate the maladjustment caused by cultural differences; and3) Individual factors including gender, age, language and psychology, for example, the language barrier would limit the social scope of skilled migrants, and women could never be equally participate in the EU financial sector under the male-dominated culture. These findings could help us to move on and apply what we’ve learned from the experience by comparing the characteristics and influencing factors of two similar groups in society adaptation to our domestic urban white-collar newcomers, and help to solve the problem of their social adaption, as well as provide a reference for related policy-making and revision.
