China - Switzerland Free Trade Agreement Study

"Free trade agreement between The People’s Republic of China and The Swiss Confederation" is the first umbrella free trade agreement signed by China and the continental Europe, which covers trade in goods, trade in service, intellectual property protection, environment and other fields, and it is also the first free trade agreement between China and the group of 20 world economic powers. It opens the “leap pattern” of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation, at the same time it plays a demonstrative role in establishing a closer economic and trade relation between China and European Union. From the point view of law, the paper studies the framework of the agreement on the macro aspect, and studies the main rules of the agreement on the micro aspect, and then analyzes "Free trade agreement between The People’s Republic of China and The Swiss Confederation" whether or not be according with the regulations of WTO. There are three chapters in the paper. The first chapter introduces the basic connotation of bilateral free trade agreements from the definition of bilateral free trade agreement and the relevant provisions of WTO, and analyzes the relation between the bilateral free trade agreements and WTO, meanwhile introduces more about the current situation of the bilateral free trade agreements in China. The second chapter introduces the background and the product of "Free trade agreement between The People’s Republic of China and The Swiss Confederation" and summarizes the significance of the agreement. The third chapter firstly overviews the content of the agreement in macro and deeply analyzes the specific content in micro on the basis of the framework, finally analyzes the compliance of the agreement with the regulations of WTO.
