Efficient remote control of intelligent instruments is an important content of complex control system, and using a computer to realize the real-time remote control of multiple intelligent instruments has an important practical significance to the efficient operation of the control system. Based on the interface module of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), the speed of logical control and data processing can be significantly increased, through the PC application sending commands to control the intelligence instrument, and the real-time monitoring of intelligent instruments also can be achieved.1. With the use of VerilogHDL, USB chip and FPGA, RS232 interface and FPGA modules were optimally designed and programmed. Data communication was achieved between the USB chip and FPGA, as well as between RS232 interface and the FPGA. And fast acquisition and process of data tested from intelligent instrument were achieved using the FPGA.2. Optimized design of USB chip driver was conducted by C, implementing the USB plug and play function and the communication between host computer and the USB chip.3. Using C++ language, client application was designed on VC++6.0 platform. The achievements are setting intelligent instrument parameters, reading and displaying the processed data.4. An extended system was designed to make it more general and control more than one instrument. It contains the hardware design of the board, expanded design of FPGA program and application of PC.5. Test system was established to verify the normal communication founction among FPGA, the USB chip, RS232 interface and the host computer, and also verify the founction of graphically displaying tested data on the client application.
