In recent years, with the rapid development of wireless communication technique and the arrival of the 3G era, as the very important device for receive and send electromagnetic waves, handset antenna is facing the great challenge. Now, some new technologies such as GPS (Global Position System) and DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) are used in handset to achieve more functions. So the handset antenna should have features not only miniaturization and multi-band, but also circular polarization and broadband.Firstly, this thesis introduces some basic principle and the correlative parameters of antenna. Then the radiation principles of microstrip antennas are introduced in the thesis. Now the low-profile antenna especially the planar inverted-F antenna and monopole antenna are applied to the handset phone extensive, so the thesis also ordinary introduce the classification of the handset antennas, and elaborate the progress of the planar inverted-F antenna and monopole antenna.The thesis brings forward a multi-band antenna by using the techniques of coupling and multi-paths by searching large amounts of data, the structural parameters of antennas are designed and optimized with electromagnetic simulation software HFSS. The influence of characteristic data as primary parameters modifying is discussed by the results of simulation. The multi-band antenna can work in the frequency bands of GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS. A 3G phone antenna is designed in this thesis, it is a circular polarized planar inverted-F antenna. The 3G phone antenna can work not only in 3G frequency band, but also in DCS frequency band and L1 frequency band of GPS. Then, we fabricate and test the antennas, the results of the test are consistent with the simulation results.The thesis also introduces the basic theory and design method of low-noise amplifier, and designs a low-noise amplifier of 3G phone by using the simulation software ADS2009, then make the layout. The simulation results of the low-noise amplifier meet the requirements.
