Multimedia Conference System provides a remote video conference service; In addition to basic audio and video features, it also provides some basic accessibility features for meeting. This system was developed based on IPv4 network at first, which means only users from IPv4 network can create conference, attend conference on this system, but with the development of IPv6 network, IPv6 becomes more and more popular and will become the trend, so this system need to be upgraded to support users from IPv6 network and users from IPv4 network:How should we upgrade this system? Which method shall we choose? How can we implement this method? All these problems will be resolved in this thesis.There are many kinds of methods used for transition from IPv4 to IPv6, such as: Dual protocol stacks, the tunnel, NAT-PT, etc. We discard tunnel method because the application scenario of tunnel does not match the Multimedia conference system. We discard NAT-PT method because this method is technically immature, especially for the special application level protocol, SIP for example. Finally we choose Dual protocol stack as the basic method.This thesis focuses on describing the design and implementation of IPv4/IPv6 SIP stack upgrade for multimedia conf system, and describing the media server and user terminal upgrade briefly. This thesis mainly includes:analyzing how to upgrade this system using dual protocol stack; describing the design and implementation of Resip-IPV4 module which supports IPv4 network; describing the design and implementation of Resip-IPV6 module which support IPv6 network; describing the design of the Resource Adapt level which is used to adapt the above two stacks into the system, the up and down levels can be decoupled with the help of this level.At last, we use three test cases to verify the feasibility and correctness of the above design.
