With the arrival of 3G (Three Generation) network era. Users have higher expectations of mobile communications. The user not only requires a stable voice communications, but also requires the ability to communicate with the way of data or multimedia. In response to these requirements, The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) proposes the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) technology in the R5 version, standards organizations have also started the evolution of the research versions of IMS.The fundamental purpose of IMS is to be a control tool at the IP host platform for operators, to ensure that users can get the appropriate quality of service assurance, service level assurance, that operators can provide to a third party in accordance with the resources, service levels, quality of different service with different fees. In addition, IMS controlls all the voice, broadband, narrowband, businesses in the same IP platform, whether it is on this basis fixed access or mobile access, there is a seamless service.Multimedia Ring Tone Service (MRT) based on IMS is a calling business. Such as the Caller opened the business and no registered CLIR (Caller Line Identity Restriction) service, and the Called party registered CLIP (Caller Line Identity Presentation) service. When the caller initiated a call to the called in IMS, the ring of the called terminal will be replaced by the audio/video (the audio/video pre-set by the caller to play media files produced) sent over the network; when the caller initiated a call to the called in IMS, the called terminal will not receive the audio/video.MRT service is a value-added service which makes multimedia as the ring tone. Relative to the Multimedia ring back tone, MRT is a business which based on the Caller and display on the Called. This paper, with the IMS and the business property of MRBT, propose some implementation programs, including system design and session-based SIP signaling, and the corresponding transformation of the existing terminalThe first chapter describes the project background. Firstly introduced the IMS network background, architecture and service delivery architecture; then introduced the SIP protocol and the proability of agreement and form of SDP; Finally, introduced the probability of early media.This second chapter introduces the principles and system architecture network.This third chapter introduces the design and implementation process of Multimedia Ring Tone Service based on IMS, describes the signaling flow, the detailed design and implementation of the internal business and the corresponding transformation of the terminal.This fourth chapter describes the comparison of the performance of the test of the two models. and analyzes the later work and summarize the work.
