Currently, streaming media account for the vast majority of Internet bandwidth, according to research that by 2011, more than 90% of the traffic is streaming media. The P2P streaming media technology and CDN(Content Delivery Network) both play an important role in the video distribution area, they have their own strengths but also has obvious defects, which also has some complementary. How to combine the scalability of P2P technology and reliability, manageability of CDN to build a manageable, highly scalable, highly reliable content distribution delivery platform which could carry very large scale content distribution applications, has become the hotspot of researches in recent yearsCache Management study is focus on selecting what data to cache under the constraints of limited resources, maximize the value of the cache space. This paper firstly analysis of the main aspects of the existing caching mechanisms, including the contents of the cache, cache strategies, cache timing and cache replacement strategies. Then on the Gain-Model-based cache management algorithm base, through adding a new sub-gain parameter-user preferences and improving algorithm process, proposed a Gain-Model-based caching mechanism for P2P-CDN Streaming Media System, which could improve the caching structure and performance of P2P-CDN network. Finally, the P2P-CDN experiments on the prototype system indicates that the caching mechanism is superior to existing caching mechanisms in the hit rate, average launch delay which are the main performance parameters of performance.
