Nowadays, mobile phone is one of the articles which could be indispensable to us in our daily life. By the end of 2007, the number of global mobile users nearly amounts to 3 billion, and cdma subscribers are more than 430million. China is one of the most active areas of CDMA development in the world.The 3rd mobile communication system can supply a few different kinds of high quality services and global no-seam coverage. Users can roam globally and carry out every kind of communication activities at any time anywhere by portable terminals. The 3rd generation communication system is the mainstream technology of mobile communication. Comparative analysis of characteristics of 3 kinds of 3G techniques is done in this paper. On the basis of geographical environment and administration layout of Zhengzhou, we simulate the current situation and evolution strategy of a mobile communication network which belongs to an OTC. Particularly, cdma technology is the main research target of the dissertation.At the first, we focus on driving tests around representative regions in Zhengzhou. secondly, we modify the coverage-transmission model after we analyze and process the data from the driving tests. Last but not least, using the pure theoretical computing method we deal with the capacity estimation, determination of coverage, and calculation of BTS number of the wireless network part. After the theoretical calculation, we make use of the software U-net of Huawei to perform computer simulation, in order to research pilot carrier interference and coverage.To sum up, the theoretical conclusion of the report is that by calculation of link budget, the CDMA 1x EV-DO Rev.A BTS whose forward channel data rate is above 307.2kbps amount to 192 in urban area of 212.4 km2 of Zhengzhou. We have applied the method of EVDO Rev.A computer simulation to 170 1x base stations which are existent in Zhengzhou urban area. We find the forward channel data rate of these base stations is also above 307.2kbps. The conclusion means the effect of 170 1x base stations is approximately equivalent to the effect of 192 BTS by using DORA simulation. The idea described in the paper of wireless networks progression in the future provides the solid basis for next step of cell network construction.
