Web services require support from net equipments, while the explosive demand for bandwidth growth and cost reduction requirements make the optix network equipments become an effective way to address this demand. Currently the optix network equipment provides many functions, and with increased speed and bandwidth, the device functions will be more complicated. It makes the tester's work load unusually large, and only manual test can not meet the test requirements. Therefore the automated test system is the indispensable tool.Automated test systems include data entry, test execution, results verification and so on. It not only saves manpower, time, test equipment and other resources, but also shortens the test cycle, which reduces test cost and completes the device earlier. Some researchers have proposed several models of automated test systems, but these systems are still in the theoretical or laboratory stage. The system efficiency is not high, and it can not meet the enterprise's requirements. There are also some commercial automated test tools, but they are widely used. They are not focused on the optix network equipment and have some limitations in the optix network test.The research is to develop an automated testing system for optix network equipments. The system adapts to the characteristics of optix network equipment, and establishes flexibility, growth, efficient testing mode. The thesis introduces important technologies used in automated testing system. The system has successfully solved the incompatibility between the different builds via the design of Tcl script language, two layers structure API and the module framework. Tcl language has good portability and scalability. So Tcl will be used as the basis compiling language. With the two layers structure API and module framework, we have solved the shortcoming of complexity and the inefficiency for extension on business test software. We bring forward one two layer API design method and the implementation procedure about it. This thesis not only makes try on automation testing system for optix network equipment, but also extends to the application area of automation test system for communication equipment.
