To satisfy the need of process automatization in assembling of electronical equipment and automatic insert-extract in manufacturing, semiconductor chips should be taped and packaged with the standard tape in manufacturing or before leaving factory. The tape equipment becomes the absolutely necessary part of the large-scale automatic production for the semiconductor devices, and ensures the enterprise to improve efficiency.This paper is one part of the project "study on the SOT diode automatic tape machine" that belongs to the Tianjin Municipal Science & Technology Commission. It mainly studies the supervisory control system of automatic tape machine, including orienting, testing, rotating, eliminating waste, taping and packaging of the SOT diode. Using the fieldbus technology and selecting the SIMATIC PLC as the controller, the supervisory control system implements the distributed structure of "integrated manage, distributed control" and establishes the foundation for the implementation of the Totally Integrated Automation.According to the structure and function of the machine, the system includes two parts: the master and the slave. The master implements feeding by vibration, lifting-dropping and to-and-fro swaying of the claw turnplate, and polarity testing, rotating, eliminating, etc, and which also connects with the upper-level computer by the PC adapter. The slave implements taping by the close loop system of the step motor and the rotary encoder. The encoder measures the rotated angle of the step motor and solves the problem of pulse losing by supplementing pulse, which ensures that the tape moves one fit step every time. The upper-level computer system, which uses the configuration software WinCC, manages to monitor the master and the slave. The HMI includes the parameters set on the spot, the counter of sets and diodes, alarm, etc.
