JXTA is an open P2P project by Sun Corp. begun at Apr.2001. Its target is to extract the general requirements from all P2P systems, so as to create common underneath protocols, which are used to normalize and standardize all kinds of P2P core, services and applications. This paper primarily discusses what I have done in the research and practice in JXTA, based on which I designed and implemented an instant communicating system named JBICS. With the JXTA technique, the project has realized the management of the peer groups and the peers, and also has realized the transmission and processing of instant textual message and audio message between peers or among all peers in a peer group. The main research and implementation work of this paper includes:Explore JXTA P2P network platform, emphasizing on JXTA architecture , components and its core protocols;Analyze the requirements and functions of JBICS, make overall design and divide the system into function modules;Analyze, design and implement the system's main function modules, including group member management module, message transmission/ processing module and audio processing module;Research on the algorithm of contention session floor on the concurrent control within a completely distributed peer group, design a Multiple Access Floor Competition algorithm MAFC, and has resolved the problem of the session floor among all the peers in a peer group when they have an instant meeting;Test JBICS prototype system, validating its feasibility and correctness.
