DSP processor is designed for real-time digital signal process. With the great progresses and a series of break-through in VLSI technologies, integrated DSPs came out soon after. Integrated DSPs possess many-advantages, such as compactness, low power cost, and high working speed and so on which are mostly suitable in speech signal compressing. Present DSPs axe getting more and more attentions in the information field, due to its powerful signal processing ability, becoming a hot-point technique in communication and other relating signal nrocessing areas.The paper introduces the implementation and optimization of G.729 speech codec and the optimization of IMDCT in algorithm and program based on Leadtek VFAST DSP chip, the optimization and implementation of IMDCT is the key element of the implementation of MP3 decoder.Firstly, the architecture of VFAST Chip is introduced in the paper. The storage module of the chip and the task flow of controlling the concurrent processor are also described. In the part, an analysis about the parallel strategy based on VP6 SIMD and optimization ideas is referred too.Secondly, The optimization and implementation of the two IMDCT modules based on DSP have been described particularly, applied in the MP3 decoding algorithm, and have been presented devising ideas.At last, the paper introduces the theory of G. 729 codec algorithm, describes the implementation of G. 729 codec based on DSP and optimization ideas, and makes the testing results. With these works, the G. 729 codec has been performed well on the DSP, for high efficiency and excellent tone in the real-time communication, and it is implemented for several calls in parallel.
