Design For Protocol Conformance Test Cases Of OSPFv3

With increasing of routers that support IPv6 protocol, conformance test for the implementation of routing protocols is becoming more and more important. OSPFv3 is based on Dijkstra algorithm and is a link-state routing Protocol, it is the most widely used interior gateway router Protocol in the next generation Internet. The objective of protocol conformance test is to test the conformance between a protocol standard and its variable implementations so that these different implementations can interoperate with each other.This dissertation is a research on OSPFv3 protocol conformance test method and test generation technology. By analyzing OSPFv3 protocol and protocol conformance theory, environment-simulated test method is proposed.with different testing equipment's port, several testing system is simulated. The topological structure of OSPFv3 is simulated by sending all kinds of LSA. Simulated test environment is built, in which the system under test can gain some special information or run to some special state automatically, then active test method is used in this stage. The test action was reduced and the design and execution of test case was simplified with this method. Under conformance test theory, after confirming conformance test require and test target, OSPFv3 test groups are designed. Test targets are divided as two kinds, one has state conversion, the other has not state conversion.the former was built by FSM model, the latter was gotten by protocol require and protocol conformance list. I have designed 145 test cases with 8 groups by TSS description language with this method. The proposed method has been successfully applied; A test case for OSPFv3 protocol conformance testing was designed and tested on Linux implementations. Test result indicates that this method is effective in simplifying test sequence, decreasing test time and improving test efficiency, and the test result indicates that there are some inconsistent with protocol standard. The test case suite has been successfully applied to the realization of a practice-testing instrument.
