| With the development of infrared imaging technology and infrared focal plane array (IRFPA) solid image detectors, IRFPA is widely used in various imaging system in the military, industrial and commercial fields. Typical applications include missiles guidance, aerial survey, infrared hunting and tracing system, custom suppress smuggling, salvage equipment and forest fire control etc. The requirements of the quality of infrared imaging is becoming higher and higher. Infrared video image digital processing system is an absolutely necessary circuit for IRFPA detectors, which is extremely important to imaging quality. A blue print of TMS320C6203B DSP-based IRFPA video image digital processing system is proposed. The functions, working process, system architecture, key technologies are analyzed and explained. In order to increase the processing accuracy, high-resolution video A/D converters are selected and the infrared image data are processed by non-uniformity correction, bad pixel replacement and automatic gain control algorithms. Therefore, the accuracy and anti-noise performance are guaranteed. The input infrared image data are processed by a special way to enhance the real time performance of the system. This way, the delay of the entire circuit is not more than 2ms, which satisfies the requirements of most applications. The hardware of the system includes these function blocks as following: video A/D, data buffer FIFO, DSP, FPGA, data memory and video synthesizer. The system can accurately read out the video signal of IRFPA, and then convert the analog signal into digital signal with A/D, then the digital signal will be input into internal memory through FIFO, and DSP carry out the processings such as the controlling of gain and offset, NUC and BPR. At last the system output the standard PAL analog video signal and propagate digital signal to next stage processing system. This paper introduce the hardware of every function block and the realization of system timing. According to the practical measurement of this system, the performance of both hardware and software all meet with such requirements as stability, reliability and real time etc. And functionally, it is general to some extent. |
