Channel Coding Technique In Digital Video Broadcasting System

This paper is mainly about the Digital Video Broadcasting(DVB) system in multimedia communication. After an introduction to the channel coding technique used in DVB system, this paper lays its emphasis on the block code, e.g., RS code and LDPC code. Firstly, this paper deals with RS code's coding/decoding principle and its hardware implementation. With an analysis on how to reduce the hardware complexity of RS decoder, a TDM technique based on Modified Euclidean iterative algorithm is proposed, meanwhile, a comparison is made to the hardware resources occupied by Modified Euclidean, BM and Euclidean algorithms. Finally, the history and characteristic of Low Density Parity Coding(LDPC) is covered which involves two decoding algorithm of LDPC code, that is, BF and SPA algorithm. After a demonstration on the application of LDPC in Digital Video Terrestrial Broadcasting (DVB-T) system which is based on OFDM, a multilevel modulation decoding method of LDPC is given. With the help of MATLAB simulation tool, some results are collected to study the feasibility of this algorithm.
