"Digital city" is one of the composing parts and an important base of the "digital earth", digital city is being climactically studied nowadays. And the storage management and the release on network of immense spatial data is one of the key technology of digital city, it involves the compression and effective storage management as well as network release of immense spatial data etc. A study is outspread on these problems in this paper.Aim at the vast and complex relation of the spatial data, storied pyramid structures which incarnates multi-scale characteristic will be used to organize and manage the spatial data, so that we can expediently to compress spatial data and economize storage space. We also introduced some knowledge of wavelet transform and the standard of the JPEG-2000 was used to compress spatial data so as to realize the compression of spatial data to better, and that it can also to solve the question of the oversize spatial data quantity, and using database to store and manage immense data will be more convenient. In the paper, we simply discussed the concept and its related technology of the spatial data depot, developed a spatial database based on Web application, so as to store and manage immense spatial data and attribute data effectively.Finally, a immense spatial data network release system based on Internet is put forward, we used some strategy to realize the smooth browse ( magnify, reduce, move ) function and multi-scale display function of the immense image data.
