With the broad application of video image technology and rapid development of embedded system, this paper proposes a video capturing and processing method based on a 32-bit CPU by an overview of the development of video signal capturing and processing technology.This paper designs a video signal capturing and processing system using the S3C44B0X embedded ARM processor as core ICs which based on VW2010 a special chip of video processing,and this paper also introduces a system of capturing, compressing, net transmitting and real-time controlling of the video signal.This paper emphasizes the macro design of the system and its detailed realization. At first, the paper systematically discusses the hardware design and introduces the phylogeny and the background of this project, and gives the detailed solution. Following, the application of ARM in the system is deeply analyzed. The characters and the structures of ARM processor and the VW2010 asic are emphasized in the paper.At the end of the paper, the detailed hardware circuit design of each block are given here, for instance, the interface design among S3C44B0X and VW2010, the Ethernet transmission interface design of the surveillance system, the high speed circuit of ARM and its extended SDRAM and Flash.About the software platform, this paper emphasizes in general the feature of the RTOS(reality time operation system) μC/OS-Ⅱ and analyzes the requirement of porting it to a kindof hardware platform and what must be done with a specific processor. And then gives thedetail process of porting to our hardware platform. Finally, through extending μC/OS-Ⅱ asimple RTOS is builted.
