| There have been 40 newspaper groups established formally in China, since Guangzhou Daily Press Group was established in 1996. Gansu Daily News Group, the first and the only newspaper group in underdeveloped Northwest China, explores many fields, such as launching sub-newspapers, establishing news group, strengthening journalistic operation, reforming human affair & importing stimulating mechanism, applying new media technology, etc. From the perspective of reform effect of newspaper groups in underdeveloped regions, Gansu Daily News Group has not achieved its innovative goal & breakthrough. However, its operation status, the problems, and the countermeasure to settle the issues, undoubtedly reflect the actual development of newspapering in underdeveloped regions. Therefore, the full and accurate analysis to representative Gansu Daily News Group,may provide direct or indirect decision-making reference for itself and other newspapering entities in underdeveloped regions, moreover, bring definite revelation to holistic development of newspapering in those regions.This paper consists of three parts. The first part describes the current status of Gansu Daily News Group in media structure, management, human resource, journalistic operation, technology strength, and issue strength. The second part evaluates the operation status of Gansu Daily News Group, and analyzes the external environment & internal problems which affects and restricts it's development. The third part provides the stratagem to develop for Gansu News Group. The paper points that the development of newspapering in underdeveloped regions needs special policy environment which is different from that in developed regions, and should rebuild market mainbody in system reform, exploit financing channels, break through the regional limitation, expand mixed farming in various mediums and industries, enhance internal management, improve operation efficiency, deepen reform in journalistic operation, improve the ability to run newspapers, consummate HR mechanism & staff quality, utilize advanced technology, build digital news group,etc. The two-way thought to develop which is actualizing external bargaining stratagem on the base of strengthening internal management, is an efficient approach to cultivate & upgrade the competition ability for Gansu Daily News Group and other newspapering entities in underdeveloped regions. |
