| Every telecommunication carrier thinks much of the security and QoS of itsnetwork. Since the communication traffic increases tremendously during someholidays and causes great risk to the security of the network, carriers always preparean emergency plan for guaranteeing the security of their networks during the specialperiod. Actually, Chinese people are so fond of mobile communication that thepenetration rate of cellular phones in China has reached 30 per cent. The rate could behigher but for the low level of average income. What's more, due to the tradition ofChina, Chinese people get used to give out their blessing via mobile phones exactly at0 o'clock in the morning of the Spring Fesitival, thus momentarily cause a greatpressure on the network. Under this circumstance, we plotted Tianjin Mobile NetworkSecurity Guaranteeing System for the 2004 Spring Festival, aiming at ensuring thesecurity of the network and the normal communication of the customers. Due to thegood design, although the project involves a large scale of adjustment and preparesthe network for a relatively long period with ever-increasing demand, it requires onlya small amount of investment, thereby considered to be a leading solution among allthe projects of this kind around the country. The economy of Tianjin has been accelerating since 2002, with the GDPincreasing rate ranking first for many years among all the provinces andmunicipalities, and the living quality of the people improving continuously. Duringthe course, the consumption structure shows a distinct tendency of upgrading, namely the money people spend on communication, entertainment, education andculture increases apparently. Under the circumstance, both the number of mobilecommunication subscribers and their usage increases rapidly and continuously, thuscausing great pressure on the mobile communication network. On the other hand, due to the long servicing period and low handling capability of current Nortelsubscriber exchange hardware, it is forcasted that the traffic of G3, G6, G8, G9, G10,G11 and G12 will exceed the handling capability of the exchange, while the CPUload of G4 and G5 will reach 95.2% and 85.3% respectively. From this angle, theexchanges can not handle the traffic sufficiently during the Spriing Festival of 2004.Meanwhile, some of the network equipments are too obsolete to support newservices such as CTD (Cell and Time Division Service). Therefore, this project aimsat solving the two crucial questions by improving the capacity of the network andupgrading the equipment for supporting new services.Due to the above-mentioned problems and the urgent need of the MarketingDepartment for the realization of CTD, especially in the three northern counties andDagang District where the service is tested, we decide to upgrade first of all theNortel SR 7.0 exchanges covering the areas from Version GSM12 to Version GSM15.We designs two solutions for the upgrading task, and after comparing the twosolutions, choose the second one which makes more use of current resources andthus saves more investment. |
