| The dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) uses resources atpresent and makes per fiber transmit more signals. So the communicationcapacity is improved very much and the cost of building and running is decreased.On the other hand, DWDM establishes a foundation to build an entirely opticalnetwork. The paper introduces the DWDM principle and parts of system. Thefactors, which affect the system, are discussed. The project that utilizes DWDMin the south littoral is expatiated in detail. The fiber dispersion compensationmodules are used to solve the dispersion question in the long-distancetransmission. And its value is calculated. The DWDM system has made use offiber sources that have already been in the south littoral. The DWDM systemonly adds SDH equipments without thinking about fiber sources in future. Thecosts in building up fibers and in adding re-generators save. IP non-link isreserved and IP Over SDH protocol, standard and draft are supported. TheDWDM system sets up an integrated and united transmitting network, which isvery large in capacity, very high in speed and very efficient. |
