Along with the development of computer network technology and the The quick popularity of distributed application, the transfe from Client/Server model to Three Tier Software Architectures has become a impending demand and also a leading development tendency of computing technology in the decade.Message-oriented middleware (MOM) is a special middleware based on message-transmission, effective and reliable message transmission for communication across heterogeneous platforms can be provided by it. Distributed systems can interact and be integrated on the way of data communication by MOM. Java Message Service (JMS) is a specification for MOM based on Java Language protocol, and was created by Sun Microsystems. It makes the heterogeneity of network programming language, OS and Database. After the research of MOM technology and JMS Specification, a method of designing and implementing a MOM system based on JMS Specification has been carried out. XML is used as the message transmission form in this system. Firstly, a design idea about the system architecture and every system service has been given. Secondly, according to the idea, a series of functions and services are implemented in this MOM system, such as point-to-point and publish/subscribe messaging model, persistent message storing, JNDI service based on RMI communication protocol, thread pool, message transmission based on XML form and the exchanging between initial message and XML message.
