The Design And Realization Of Online Scoring System Based On Web Services

The 21st century is one featuring a knowledge-based economy. In this century, the talents are vital to the development of one nation. Further educational reforms and whole-scale improvement of the holistic education are widely emphasized in China's education circle. In this situation the examinations, as the main evaluation method, have to be meliorated and adapted to the new requirements of the times.The form and intention of the examinations varies a lot comparing with the traditional one. It requires more on creativity and practice capability of the candidates, and provides more subjective questions than objective ones. However, as the grading for subjective questions can be affected by many factors, justice may not be assured. With the development of computer science, network technology, image process techniques, a kind of software system is developed to get the scoring process under control. The appearance of Online Scoring System (OSS for short) successfully reduces the errors in the correction of the subjective questions, and therefore realizes the justness and fairness.This thesis illustrates the principles of the online scoring system, compares it with the traditional hand work and analyses the shortcomings and advancements between them. Then, the paper concludes the scheme and prospect of the scoring system based on Web Services technique.The thesis consists of the following main parts:1. Analyses the software develop techniques, selects the one which is suitable for developing OSS based on the study of the system's structure and functionality.2. Offers the integrated design, such as system framework, function module and database structure.3. In this thesis, the author also programs some modules of the OSS system.4. At the end, the prospect of the OSS is forecasted and a thinking of integrating OSS into other MIS system with the help of Web Services technique is given out.This thesis is based on the project of Online Scoring System of Shanghai Municipal Educational Examinations Authority. The author participated in the system design of the whole project and completed the design and coding of the grade processing engine, data import/export module.
