Handhold Wireless Data Terminal Based On 802.11b

Along with the progress of information, demanding of the mobile information increases steadily. In this course, how to get the firsthand information becomes a restricting factor. At the same time, bar code which acts as a means of data collection is working on.The real target of bar code is to marshal data resource, thereby completes flow reforming service, and incarnate its value to enterprise in this progress. With the progress of office automatization and digilization, application of data collecting instrument is booming.Mobile computing of enterprise includes collecting, computing, communication and management, it's a perfect combination between wireless network technology and computer. It can collect corporation information accurately by data terminal, then sending data to the background server in real-time. It enhances greatly the fertility and increases the competition of industry.At present, several international companies such as Symbol and CASIO offer many solution of mobile computing. Their advanced products have occupied the most of market. Although there are similar products in home, which has nothing competition preponderance. Because their products is so expensive, which can not be popularized in home. So we design a wireless data terminal based on 802.11b. The main target of this paper is to study how to integrate wireless module with ARM system, and resolving problems of hardware and software.First, I briefly introduce the background of system. And presenting 802.11b wireless protocol from three aspects. Then I argue the designing scheme and hardware circuit. Afterword I analyse the software of system detailedly, especially the designing of Boot Loader, the compiling of OS kernel, configuration of file system and transplant of wireless driver.
