Design And Implementation Of Device Management Service Platform

As the rapid development of mobile communications operation industry, a lot of data value-added services are pushed to market, which also introduces many problems such as configuration of mobile device's parameters and updating of old version of firmware in mobile device, these problems prevent common users from experiencing new services, hinder mobile operator from extending of market of new services, increase the cost of customer-care for operators and mobile device vendors and at last impact on the revenue of operators. The problem of configuration of mobile device can be solved both through Smart Message presented by Nokia-Ericsson and Client Provisioning put forward by WAP Forum; however, other problems except the problem mentioned above cannot be solved through the two means. Following Smart Message and Client Provisioning, an international standard organization - Open Mobile Alliance brought forward to a new means -Device Management to implement many advanced functions such as collection of device's information, configuration of device's parameters, updating of old version of firmware and detection of troubles in mobile devices, and constitutes OMA DM specifications based on the SyncML protocol to ensure interoperability of systems implemented by many manufacturers.Because Device Management service belongs to mobile data value-added services, first, the thesis describes knowledge about mobile data services and mobile data networks so as to provide a prelude.
