Image fusion based on multi-source information is a new research field in image processing. It analyzes the characteristics of each fusing image by adopting image process method and multi-source information fusion theory, fuses these characteristics by adopting appropriate strategy on the basis of image space register in order to achieve a whole legible fusion image finally. It has been a hot research field and is widely used in many fields such as remote sensing, machine vision, robotics, medical imaging, military application, weather forecast, and automatic object detection, etc.Image fusion research has great progress, but most image fusion methods have the weakness of less definition, less preserving information of the original images due to the feature and complexity of itself. This paper develops its study based on WT and MWT domain surrounding these problems.A source image is divided into serial sub-images of all decomposition layers, different directions, different resolution and different frequency band based on wavelet, which can express the local characteristic and detail information of a source image adequately. In this paper, the original color images are decomposed into three sub-images on light, hue, and saturation respectively, a fusion algorithm is improved and proposed that the gray sub-image is decomposed and reconstructed by wavelet transform according to local variance maximum, and finally a new color fusion image is obtained by inverse...
