| With the further competition of telecom business, the XXX company plans to implement realtime mutil-dimensional business analysis implementation. A Data Mining & OLAP project is thus launched, whose aim is to analyze the market and make further decisions. This thesis concerns the design & development of XXX's data warehouse & OLAP application. The contents include: requirement analysis, ER Model design, star schema, cube design, ETCL implementation, performce tuning and problems during the process.The data described in the thesis is generated by the XXX operation support system(database & flat files). The subjects for the data warehouse serve for XXX's all kind of business target, such as the user groups for certain business, user groups' ROI(Return of Investment). XXXThe OLAP application is designed to deal with a huge amount of data to extract analysis reports. It is a real challenge that the source data in files increase 10TB yearly and 1TB in source databases. So the focus lies in how to deal the raw files more efficient and how to improve the performce of OLAP applications. Third party software is also used to illustrate the reports and help to make the decisions via Drill-down and Pivot analysis. |
