An OFDM Channel Estimation Algorithm Using Poly-Phase Filter

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a special multi-carrier modulation technology. Thanks to the rapid progress of Digital Signal Processing and VLSI, OFDM have been successfully applied in Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11) and Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T). With the development of the business and the progress of the society, fast communication in high-speed mobile environment is required by more and more people now.Channel Estimation is an important technology in OFDM system which affects the performance directly. There are many channel estimation algorithms proposed in recent years which could be sorted into two kinds. The first kind could be implemented in hardware while the second couldn't. Usually the first kind has poor performance in mobile channel while the second kind has better performance.Poly-phase filter is a new developed signal processing technology; it has been successfully applied in Electronic War and some other fields. In the past several years it has great progress in the application of wireless communication. All these application above show reveal the great ascendancy of the poly-phase filter. In this paper, an OFDM channel estimation of algorithm using poly-phase filter was proposed for solving the conflict between the performance and the complexity of the algorithm.The work of this paper could be concluded as follows,Some channel estimation algorithms were analyzed in allusion to the request of the high-speed mobile communication. Both the performance and the complexity were discussed.
