Many universities and companies in China have developed EDU robot. However, the controllers of these EDU robots can be improved for reasons below. First, controllers are designed for confirmed type motor, therefore can not be applied with other types. Second, some controllers apply CPLD, ARM or special chips to motion control calculating, that makes the software system open to users inconveniently. Therefore, this article studies one kind of open-architecture motion controller for EDU Robot based on EDUROBOT- 680-II. The research content expresses as following:1. With some papers and reference, make a conclusion about the EDU robot situations internal and overseas. Then, analyses the necessary of this project and decided the main research content.2. Find some motion control architecture and make a compare, take the specialty of this project into account, we take the architecture of IPC and I/O board for the reason of realizing open-architecture software control system.
