Radar Cross Section(RCS) of microstrip patch antennas is analyzed and calculated in this dissertation. The stealth method put forward is to change antenna shape and design the antenna using the concept of the compact microstrip technique. Compact structure has the special ability to reduce the antenna RCS. Main contributions are summarized as follows.1. The principle of reducing RCS of microstrip antenna by cutting slots and loading a shorting-post is analyzed. The compact antenna used to reduce antenna RCS can guarantee the radiation performance to solve the contravention of the radiation and scattering of antenna.2. Virtues and disadvantages of conformal cylindrical microstrip antennas array are analyzed, and also its use in antenna RCS reduction. The radiation and scattering characters of compact array antenna are compared with conventional array antenna, which show that compact antenna can not only reduce the antenna mutual coupling to improve the array antenna performance, but also the RCS of antenna.3. The virtues of aperture coupled microstrip antenna and the impact of related parameters on the antenna radiation and scattering performance are analyzed. A low RCS aperture coupled microstrip antenna is designed by cutting slots and changing the shape of coupled aperture.
