With the rapid development and wide applications of information technology in national post enterprises, a batch of business processing systems has been employed successively, and business processing based on computers has been carried out. A plentiful data resource is accumulated for business management and decision analysis during this course. However, these systems are usually in their own styles and share only very few data among them. In addition, finance management and information report in statistics which are necessary for business analysis and decision making in management are still in traditional mode, collecting and reporting level upon level. Serious problems exist such as low efficiency, lag and distortion in information. With the development of enterprises, the requirement of business management becomes higher and higher. Accurate and timely data and scientific method for data analysis are needed urgently to support the business management and decision making. Therefore China Post decided to construct national post portfolio and business income information management system CPPIMS (for short PIMS hereinafter).
