Virtual reality as an advanced technology integrated computer graphics, high-performance computing, man-machine interface, network technology and others, it share a wide range of application fields, in education, entertainment, scientific research, aerospace etc. Virtual cockpit system is the most successful application of the virtual reality technology in the aerospace field. Because of a lot of practical value, the research and design of Virtual Cockpit bring many nation's attention.This paper gives a brief introduction of virtual reality technology, and then according to analysis of the need of system, gives the composition of system software and hardware platform, including scenes simulation subsystem, flight simulation subsystem and interactive subsystem, software platforms including operating system software, 3D modeling software and scene generation software. Finally, according to the analysis of the ergonomic of the virtual cockpit for the users, gives the layout of the cockpit systems.After in-depth study of three-dimensional model features in the cockpit system, including real-time modeling, facility, model hierarchy, this paper gives the model classification, they are rules models, such as cockpit instruments, and display; irregular models, such as the mountain, trees; fuzzy model such as clouds, fog and other landscape. This paper also discusses various modeling method based on model classification. We take use of software for rule models modeling, fractal algorithm for irregular models modeling, using the particle system for fuzzy features model construction. Finally discuss how to use Creator complete these model.The static model is the basis for visual simulation, in order to generate dynamic interaction of the virtual scene. Scene simulation management is also necessary for the Simulation. This paper discusses the scene simulaton management technology, including the functions required for the management module and the module modeling, they are perspective management, the model real-time display and the collision detection management, the effect of environmental management (including illumination modeling and the atomization), scene stereo management.The paper also research the distributed interactive management in this system.
